Since the dawn of time, demons have walked the earth in the guise of man, weaving webs of deception and discord, and paving the way for Armaggedon (The Final Battle) in the End of Days.
These demons (or jinn, to use the ancient term) are spirits created by God out of fire (man being created from clay).
They hold themselves to be older and superior to all mankind and cling to the fact that they were the first inhabitants of the earth and as such are entitled to all of its pleasures and riches.
They most often take the guise of physically beautiful people, and are extremely vain. They naturally gravitate toward positions of power and influence in the human world, as they are slaves to luxury, vice and excess.
Many crave the spotlight and high visibility lifestyles, endeavoring to become rulers, politicians, entertainers, athletes, religious figures, etc.
Others seek alliances with humans that better serve their arcane purposes.
They have historically aligned themselves with the most heinous groups and individuals in the history of makind. These relationships provide them with direct access to the things they love most; wealth, perversion, death, and the abuse of power.
If you look at history's most infamous men and women; the perpetrators of the worlds greatest acts of genocide, destruction and tyranny, you will find a jinn comfortably in the shadows whispering in their ear and pulling their strings.
It is their eternal charge to tempt man to stray from the light within himself, and they revel in creating mischeif and mayhem through murder, extortion, terrorism, war mongering, and other forms of villany.
They are a long-lived race, and it is not uncommon for them to live for centuries, if not longer. Many achieve the level of immortal over the course of their existence.
Jinn typically cannot be killed through physical means, but must be destroyed metaphysically utilizing the most powerful and pure magic.
Sorcery texts classify the jinn into four distinct races representing the four universal elements (Air, Earth, Water, and Fire).
They are broken down further into five clans, each one more powerful than the last; Jinn, Jann, Ifrit, Maryut, and Shaitan.
In terms of power, elder jinn are immensely powerful sorcerers with complete mastery of the darkest arts. While the nature of their power is dictated by the core element of their race (Air, Earth, Water, or Fire), there are several talents or skills that are common to all jinn at varying degrees (manipulation, mind control, propaganda, instigation, etc.)
Younger jinn are much less powerful than their elder counterparts (often due to intermarriage with humans and the consequences it brings); but they are extremely dangerous and formidable nonetheless.
There are several elder jinn whom Jaycen has faced countless times in various time periods on various continents throughout the world.
The seat of their hidden empire is the Underworld, the near-infinite innerworkings and hollows deep within the bowels of the earth. Here they frolic, scheme and reproduce in underground cities and nations that rival the cities and nations built by men.
They access the surface world through a vast network of ancient portals and passages located at various locations (gateways) throughout the world.
Jaycen has waged a one-man war with the jinn beginning in the Golden Ages of Antiquity and carrying on down through the ages. He is the most hated demonslayer in the annals of jinn lore. He is despised above all others and his name is a curse amongst the jinn. Instead, he is referred to as The Dark Star, in homage to the legendary black blade Dark Star that he calls upon to do battle with the forces of darkness.
